Simpson's Falls creek walk

Finally! I have wanted to a creek walk of the short section of creek between Simpson's Falls picnic area and the falls themselves. Spence and I did so this morning and it was lovely. I guess it's only about 500m on the map but it took us about 40 minutes as we dawdled and looked for yabbies in the pools (and saw a few). We saw two snakes, one green and one black, neither of which I could identify as they slithered under the rocks so quickly (and I probably couldn't ID them anyway). Overall a really nice morning in a lovely location. The only bummer was right at the end as we were about to climb the falls Spence slipped on a large rock and scraped his shin - Ouch!

Paten Rd to Simpson's Falls

A lovely morning walk with Spence. We used to do this walk together regularly but haven't in more than a year, so it was very nice to get out together today. We took it nice and slow, starting at 7.30am and doing the walk in about 1.5hrs.

After all the recent rains everything is very green and the watercourses are flowing. Simpson's Falls looked about as healthy as I've ever seen it, with many full pools and a swift flow between them. There was even a flow along the creek at the picnic area (see the photo above of the bridge over the creek) - I've never seen that section of creek flowing before.

Spence spotted a couple of nice mushrooms for me (see the photos below), one of which I haven't seen before (the RHS one).
